While existing immunotherapies have changed cancer care, efficacy limitations still exist. Pheast Therapeutics is addressing this challenge by harnessing the power of the innate immune system to get around “don’t eat me” signals in select tumors. Pheast is developing macrophage checkpoint inhibitors to block these signals and enlist macrophages in the fight against cancers. In this episode, Roy Maute, cofounder and CEO of Pheast Therapeutics, talks about this tumor evasion process, the company’s experimental therapeutic platform, and why it is focusing on ovarian and triple negative breast cancer in the early stages.
