Summary
Pheast is seeking an enthusiastic research associate to join our Protein Sciences team. This candidate will carry out routine mammalian tissue culture, transfections, protein biochemistry, molecular biology and related tasks. The candidate will also collaborate as needed with team members in the Biologics and Discovery groups. There will be many opportunities to learn new skills, furthering professional growth and development at a fast-growing biotechnology startup. This position will report to the Scientist II, Protein Sciences.
Responsibilities
Position responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Carry out plasmid DNA preparations using molecular cloning techniques
- Perform mammalian cell culture & transient transfections
- Purify and fractionate protein samples using affinity chromatography, SEC & IEX
- Support downstream purification and characterization of recombinant proteins, including therapeutic antibody candidates
- Keep detailed and organized records of experiments
- Present data at weekly group meetings
- Provide support across organization as needed
Qualifications
- BS/MS in biology/biochemistry/microbiology or related field
- Basic understanding of molecular biology
- Attention to detail and ability to quickly learn new skills
- Ability to keep well-organized and clear records of experiments
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and employ effective time management strategies
- Ability to think critically
- Previous experience in the biopharma industry
- Experience in mammalian cell culture and transfections
- Experience with protein expression and purification using chromatographic methods
- Experience with flow cytometry
- Experience with ELISA
- Experience with SDS-PAGE & Western blotting
- Experience with kinetic assays (Octet and/or Biacore)
